I loaded from a older save, and went to the gun dealer at the bottom of the Hung Hua Hotel. He didn't have a pistol I could buy, so I bought a machine pistol. Then when I got to where the hacker was, I found a machine pistol in one of the pods! Damn, wasted some money. Anyway, when the time came I gave him the machine pistol. I hope that turns into a benefit for me later!
After dying a few more times, I was able to get out of the Alice Gardens building. On the way out, I was able to get a pistol and I used the armor-piercing mod on it. That gun does a ton of damage! Pretty sweet. I have too many weapons and not enough inventory space :(
At this point I can go to the TYM shuttle to move on, but I decided to finish up the side quests before that. I'm not sure if I will be coming back to this part of China after I get into the TYM building.
First I did the quest for Malik. I went to the limb clinic and found the guy. He met me outside and gave me the report I needed. Then the guy said I am suppose to pay 1000 for it! Malik never said I was going to have to pay, so I refused to give him any money. The dude said "you'll regret this!" so I am curious if that will hurt me later.
Next I had to go to the apartment of the guy we are investigating. I found the clues of the baseball bat, the computer, and the old clock. Malik sent me to The Hive to find the guy, hoping we could get him to confess to me while trying to bribe my silence. I had a few conversation options and was able to complete the quest that way. What happens if I choose the wrong options? Or does it just keep me there until I say the right thing? I am looking forward to beating this game and playing it again.
After Lee confesses to killing his girlfriend, Malik is able to hack the big display screens on the front of The Hive. Now they show pictures of Lee and show that he is a murderer. I think Malik is hoping someone will just kill Lee. Pretty awesome. Malik is a total badass.
While in The Hive, I talked to the bartender on the lower level. He had a side quest available, but I decided not to take it. I'm kinda bored with this part of town. Also, there are a lot of security guards everywhere in the city, so it won't be easy to get things done now. I should have talked to him earlier and done his quest then. I was trying to hack into a storage shed outside the Alice Gardens and the cops started shooting at me! This city has too much heat, so I'm not going to start anything new.
The last quest was to find the kidnapped prostitute. I was hoping that some option would come up by now so that I wouldn't have to pay 2000 to that one guy on the roof of the hotel. I broke down and looked at the strategy guide on GameFAQs to see if I had missed anything. It said I had to pay the guy or get the persuasion augmentation. I didn't have the Aug, so I will have to pay the guy. Luckly, the guide said I can just knock him out after paying and get my money back off his body. Sweet! I didn't even think of that! So that's what I did.
The info from the guy lead to me a storage locker guarded by three gangsters. I had some trouble taking these guys out. I tried to use my tranq gun to put them to sleep from a distance, but I couldn't get anything to hit. My tranq gun back in Detroit had some king of aiming mod, but this one is just standard. So I ended up just getting into a firefight with these guys. My revolver has a lazer sight, so I moved a box over to the area for cover and just shot them all.
After freeing the girl, a second quest became available. I have to kill the pimp who runs the hotel. I find his apartment and knock him out. The quest is completed by dropping his body off the roof so it looks like he committed suicide. I was moving the fridge in his apartment, looking for extra items, and I accidentally dropped it on the guy! He died and I lost the quest! Hahaha. So I had to load a save and do it over again. I finished the quest and got paid 2000 for the hit. Not bad. I now have enough to buy a praxis kit at the LIMB clinic. I'll do that and then get on the shuttle.

Hackers and TYM Attack
I agreed to help Malik, then went on to get the info from her pod. The reports there didn't say much. I'll have to wait until I talk to her contact before I can advance this quest further.
I find the hacker, Windmill, and he agrees to help me. It seems that whoever hired him wasn't nice, so he doesn't mind selling them out. Works fine for me. I have to get to the upper levels of the TYM building and get some security video from a server there.
A bunch of armed guards then storm the building, and people shout that they are from TYM. I am given the opting of letting Windmill take one of my guns to defend himself. I don't want to give up either my revolver or my combat rifle, so I left him on his own. If I had a pistol, I would give him that for sure. My revolver has a mod on it, and I haven't seen any more ammo for it in a while. My combat rifle has a lazer, silencer, and extra capacity clip, I am NOT giving that up.
I fought with the guards for a while and died a lot. Then mike came over so I'll have to try again. I might load from the save where I talk to Malik, then go find a pistol to give to the hacker later.

Club Hive
I escaped from the apartment building by going up to the top floor and leaving that way. There are simply too many guards on the lower level.
Malik recommended that I go to a club called The Hive to find the hacker we are looking for. It costs 1000 to get in without a pass. A guy standing outside said it's possible to sneak in through the back. But I remember reading in the strategy guide that there is a membership card in the brothel that I was in earlier. I went down and the card was in a room that I had already been in! I can't believe I didn't pick it up earlier.
I get into the club and look around. It's possible to ask the bar tender about the owner of the club, but I just buy a drink instead. I found the passcode to the basement office, where the owner is said to stay. I went trough, but I was spotted right away and died. Instead of going through there again I went upstairs and talked to a different bar tender. Eventually after choosing "pinpoint" a few times I was able to get access to see the owner. I go back through the door that gave me trouble earlier, and meet with the owner. It's the bar tender from upstairs! Ha, I should have talked to the first bar tender, it might have changed things.
He tells me to got the Alice Gardens Pod building. I wonder if Alice Gardens is a reference to Alice in Wonderland? I move around and find Malik there. She tells me she is investigating the death of her very good friend. I was about to agree to help her, but got interrupted and had to quit out.

Enter China
I have arrived in China. I hope I eventually get access to my apartment again, I left a lot of cool stuff in there. I thought all my stuff might come with me if Sarif sets me up with an apartment here, but so far looks like I've just got what I brought with me.
First thing I did was explore the brothel right where Malik drops me off. I got a side quest to find some kidnapped girl who is going to be Augmented against her will. I found the guy who is suppose to give me a location of her, but the guy wanted $2000 for the info. I'm not willing to spend that much cash, so I just left the guy. I also got a security key card to TYM in one of the rooms, so that should be useful later.
I then wandered around the street until I found the building I needed. We are here following the dying words of Barrett, the merc I killed in the FEMA base. I explored a hotel that is on lock down by Bell Tower Security. It seems the are another group of Mercenaries/Private Military. I found a vent that looked like it would take me in, but instead I went up a ladder to enter. I found my way along the side, and down at the bottom was a PRAXIS KIT! I was pretty stoked to find that. I worked my way up and avoided the guards to find the burned-out safe room of the hacker we have been looking for. His name is "The Dutchman", and he was referenced in some of the emails back at the FEMA base.
With all my intel gathered, I tried to make my way out of the hotel. I got out to some kinda large courtyard, but there are sooo many guards. I kept getting killed trying to escape. Like at the FEMA base, there is a second level high up where I can be spotted from. I might have to find a totally different way to leave the building. The whole place is a maze and I get lost rather easily.
About to dive back in!

Streets of Detroit
I have two side quests I want to finish before going to China. I have to help my old cop friend arrest the dirty cop, and I have to help my coworker get back a security tape of him stealing the Aug drug. First I do the drug one.
I had to hack into the door to the guys apartment to get access to his room. I felt dumb, because later I found a pocket secretary with the door code on it, so I didn't really have to hack. But anyway, I eventually get in and check out the room. I access his computer and find info that shows he is moving the drugs around to people in the city. As soon as I am done, someone else breaks into the room. I figure I'll just take him out with the stun gun, but the dude had a shotgun and killed me with one shot! I died like three more times to this guy. What a jerk! I eventually put him to sleep and meet the guy who's apartment I broke into. I can't remember any names here.
The guy will give up the security tape if I help him with some drug dealers who are mad that he gives away the drug. I find them not too far away and save the game before killing them. Taking them out was easy, but it really sets off an alarm. Now every punk in the city wants me dead. I tried hiding for a while, but it seemed to last a long time and it just wasn't very fun. So I restored my save and just knocked them out instead. I stunned one then used my melee attack on the other. Not too bad. I go back to the other guy and get the security tape. Then I find the original person outside the HQ. I thought he was going to wait in my office? Anyway, I talk to him and even empathize with him a bit. I think he gave me a lazer targeting mod for doing the quest. Pretty sweet. I put it on the revolver.
Next I help my old cop friend with her investigation. I go to the guys apartment, and it turns out it is in the same building as before! I was even in that room the first time around. I couldn't hack into his little safe room, but I didn't notice that there was a pocket secretary in his book shelf. It had the code I needed to get in. There were a bunch of mines inside, so I threw an EMP grenade to disable them. I got all the evidence I needed, then went to meet with the guy myself and try to convince him that I am a hitman.
I meet the dirty cop and talk to him for a few choices. I think I choose the professional/cold options and that worked pretty good. He gives me a cross-bow and says I need to kill a Motor City Bangers gang member. Then I have to take the cross-bow into DRB territory so it looks like they killed him. The idea is to start a big gang war. I think that once the gang war starts, FEMA can use it as an excuse to impose martial law and arrest whoever they want. Hopefully completing this quest will avoid that, because damn that's some crazy shit.
Once I had the cross-bow, I had to go and knock out the MCB target. I don't know what would have happened if I had killed him. I just hit him with the stun gun and killed a few of his body guards.
I went back to the cop lady to finish the quest. I had the option of keeping the cross-bow, but I gave it to her. I already have a lot of weapons and I'm not gonna do all this work just to hamper the investigation. She gives me the option of arresting the guy myself, since she is some kind of super-weak woman who can't arrest anyone. I offered to do it because I like knocking people out.
Back at the guys apartment, he offers me money to let him go free. Money in this game is RARE, you never have enough money. I was tempted, but he never said how much I would get. I declined his offer and knocked him out. After talking to my cop friend for the last time, I made my way to the helipad so Malik could take me to China.

FEMA Base part 2
I ended up using a old save, and re-infiltrated the FEMA base. I got the ghost achievement for not being spotted :-D
Also, I went inside a little guard room and got some extra goodies while a guard slept in a chair. I kept getting spotted when I accessed his computer. Eventually I got everything from in there. Including a weapon mod and passwords! I considered it worthwhile to go back on the old save.
Anyway, with my foreknowledge of where things were, I was able to more easily go through the FEMA base. Eventually I got to a big open area with three rows of about three rooms in a row on a lower level. I had to get to a room on the other side and I just couldn't make my way there easily. I kept getting spotted by guards on the upper level. After getting all the items I could from the little rooms, I opened a map and found a way around the back. I talked my way past the civilian guards there, and hit the elevator to go down.
Now I get the big boss fight. This guy was very, very difficult. I must have died 20 times to him. I had to look up some strategies on GameFAQs. After throwing two exploding barrels, a gas tank, a grenade, and a clip of combat rifle, I eventually killed him. Dude was HARD TO KILL. As he died, he said to go to china, and that FEMA isn't the worst of our enemies.
Why do we have so many enemies? Also, it still seems iffy that FEMA is an enemy of ours. The mercenaries seem like they were hired for security because the local gangs kept getting to close to the secret base. Hopefully this will all make sense soon.
Malik takes me back to Sarif HQ. I speak to Pritchard before going upstairs and learn about the secret data connection that has been open for about a year. I grill Sarif about it. He is very good at dodging the issue and redirecting the conversation. But I never choose the "back down" option, I keep asking him about whats going on. He even brings up Megan! Eventually he says that the connection was for a private investigator who researched ME. Apparently they didn't trust me before they hired me. Sarif claims he simply forgot to turn off the data link when it was done. Can't tell yet if any of this is true.
Sarif said he would give me access to the data, but I forgot to goto my office when this was done and look at it. Also, he made an omnious comment about how it might change things if I look at the data. I wonder if it would have opened up a new side quest? I might load an older save and check it out...

DRB Territory & the FEMA base
I ran back to the police station and got the shot gun from the vent where I left it. I dropped it off in my apartment building. I left with the handgun, tranq gun, and combat rifle. I should have left the combat rifle, but I like it too much. Also, it seems like people drop a lot of ammo for it, so I thought it would be best to keep it.
I talked to the police officer posing as a prostitute and I think I chose the flirty option. I accepted the side quest since she mentioned going into Derelict Row, and I need to go there anyway for the main quest. Also, Detroit Police needs to be cleaned up, and I don't mind doing that. Plus, she is an old coworker, so you know I gotta help her out.
As a quick note on the police officer, her body type looks white. Seriously, the must have modeled her on a European woman, then just changed the skin tone to black. The voice actress sounds white too. The whole conversation with her was kinda strange.
I intended to go directly to Derelict Row, but I got confused and went the wrong way. I realized I was pretty close to where Ezekiel Sanders wanted to meet with me, so I went to see him. One of his bodyguards mentioned how he killed the hostages with some kind of biological bomb. I really wish I found a way to save the hostages! Anyway, Sanders gave me a pocket secretary with a email on it. It was kind cryptic and didn't really tell me much. But it's evidence of something, so I'm sure it will be useful to have later. I'm just gonna assume that as long as I have it and read it then the game will use it later in some way. I got some XP out of the deal, so it was worth the trip.
I head back to Derelict Row and sneaked in. I had some trouble getting around the first group of guards. I tranqed one guy and dragged his body away, but they still spotted me. Instead of shooting right away, they just yell for a while before walking over and shooting. Kinda funny really. I dropped into the sewer and navigated around there for a while. When I emerged, I eventually found the weapon stash that the dirty cop uses, and got the shipping info from one of the boxes. Also, I got some extra ammo and a few rockets. I need to find a rocket launcher soon!!!
Right before I got to the antenna that is transmitting the signal, there was about three or four bombs mounted on the wall. I tried to sneak by them, but they detonated. It alerted the guards, but I hid from them easily. I couldn't get around the last one, so I just shot it then hid. Not very difficult, but it was a surprise.
So Pritchard traces the signal to somewhere in Detroit and Malik flies me there. I was pretty happy to see Malik, she is a cool character. I see the guy that punched me out in the first attack and radio in that these are the mercenaries who attacked us six months ago.
I maneuver around the open area, and find a stun gun in a large truck. I never get a chance to use it, instead I knock people out or use the tranq gun. I work my way into a small office and pick up a bunch of info there. Also, the guards talk amongst themselves for a while and we learn that the suicide hacker was one of their men. Apparently he joined Purity Front three months ago and was on assignment by them.
I get up to a high spot and take out a sniper. I did it poorly and got the alarm triggered. No one went up high to get me so it was all good in the end. I couldn't take the sniper rifle because I didn't have enough room in my inventory. I didn't want to drop any of my weapons, so I had to leave it. Hopefully I can get another one sometime soon.
The base has FEMA logos, and Sarif was surprised at that since most of our work is for the government. Why would a government agency hire mercenaries to attack us? Gotta keep exploring...
I got deep into the base, but kept getting discovered and had to fight everyone. I'm playing on normal difficulty, but it's still a hard game! I might have to turn it down to easy mode :-(
